u r right, we r the pathetic society, and we blame poor kids. we spoil them silly and then we say they r spoilt. it is not so much the availability of money that is important, but the kind of education we r imparting to the kids.
somewhere along the lines we will need to take up upbringing on values on the same scale that we take up .... say the fight against AIDS and the war on terror. the entire society will have to be educated. programs like scouts, or volunteering for the red cross will have to be on a larger scale.
someone here had talked of community service programs. involving children in them will teach them a lot.

Parental guidance and honest communication. Many kids are messed up these days, not so much because of the Santa Claus and Easter Bunny myths, but because they are getting their ideas from role models that come from the TV, the Internet, and Hollywood. Many parents aren't involved in their children's lives; they aren't there to tell thier kids that maybe the role models they've chosen (or their friends have chosen for them) aren't the best people to be looking up to. Even many "guidance counselors" in schools don't offer much guidance.
It sucks that in our society, money is king, and parents have to work their butts off, full time and then some, to make enough money just to survive. The kids suffer. The media has taken over where parents fall short, and it's not a good thing. And no, we really can't expect more from our kids than we give. That's why we have to give more and be there more, and participate in their lives, whether they want us there or not. They need parental guidance.
Then again, some people turn out just fine (or close enough to fine) without much positive input from parents or other positive adult role models. At some point, everyone has to figure out that we are, each of us, ultimately on our own. We can take control of our own lives and futures, or we can bumble along down a path that seems easy enough.. doesn't require a lot of choice, commitment or sacrifice on our part, but doesn't lead to anywhere.

Honey, its not just the kids that are messed up. Look at society, the population as a whole is falling apart. Every inch of society is not what is used to be. First of all, most of the nations children are being raised in daycare. Daycare is a business, and I don't care what anyone says, they don't love your children like a real parent. Mom's don't want to stay home with their kids. Dad's and Mom split up and bring in bf/gf's that their kids feel left out and have to share mom or dad with a new honey, or worse yet new kids. What is on TV is worse than ever. The commercials are obscene. The food is fast junk. Grandparents are not involved. People don't get along with each other. The list goes on and on and on. Priests molest, teachers make babies with students. The president has a televised affair. There isn't enough room here to write it all. But mostly kids today are left to raise themselves. The bottom line is, we live in a Godless society and when you take God out of the equation this is what you get.

Unfortunately, for the last couple of decades children have had dominion over their parents. Crying wolf for the last 20 some years has gotten them spoiled. Since the child abuse protection bill passed, it has been very challenging for any parent to discipline their child without being accused of child abuse or seeing child protection service at their door.
These children today are ruthless, spoiled and disrespectful because our go^t doesn't know how to form a fair justifiable balance to the system.
All the poison that these children have and are growing up with is meaningless. Growing up without morals, values, a conscious, or any shame, makes it a dangerous world to be in for anyone living here.
I am very concerned for the future of Amer!ca. Do we even have a future here; knowing most kids nowadays don't even want to read but listen and watch poison everywhere? Are we doomed?

Not all kids are this way. Are you the grinch that stole Christmas? nothing wrong with Santa Claus. It all boils down parental guidance and discipline that is instilled into the kids and this is lacking. People are thriving in the world and I really don't understand what point you are trying to make.

So many kids are messed up nowadays, basically, because way too much is handed to them.
They need to learn from a very very young age, that you must work hard to earn a living. This will instill great work ethics, as well as help them to learn appreciation for what they have in life.

The simple truth is that many are lost today. Many are confused today. We need the Lord to rule. We need to raise our children up in the light of Christ. Each generation moves further and further away from God. This is why the decay of morals seems so prevelant today. Soon this world will pass. We need to have a revelation in the hearts, minds and souls of mankind. The children are innocent victims...they reflect society.

I teach my daughter around Christmas time to give to others who are not as fortunate as us, whether it is food to the local shelter or toys for toys for tots. We also give mittens, scrafs, donate old clothes, etc. It is the way you teach your children-values, morals, etc. They don't grow up spoiled& selfish unless they are given everything to them.( I am talking about children/teens not adults)
You have to instill what is right and wrong.
