I am from France and of course a supporter of "Les Bleus".
But for me Italy do deserve the world cup. They were definitly the best team, controlling evry details in the game during the world cup: physical form, psychologique, strategic (because they were using everytime the real tactic on the real moment). Each player used to know what they had to do on the pitch, knowing each other very well (playing offside almost perfectly, a real model of synchronization).
I am actually happy of the football played by the French national team since 2000. They play very fast and offensive. We can say that there is a emergence of a traditional French touch in football right now, like the british "Fighting spirit", the Italian "Catenaccio", the Dutch "Total football". This time in final against Italy, France played very well but not well enough.
At the end of the final of the World Cup, the penalty serie was the best I have seen in my all life (Even Trezeguet's shoot was almost perfect).
If someone has to learn about football (soccer), he has to look at this last world cup final (Italy-France), which is a classic game of modern football like : Italy-Brazil 1970 and 1982, France-Brazil 86, Italy-France 2000, Brazil-Netherland 1994, Holland-Czech Republic in 2004 were.

Italy is the obvious answer if you didn't know anything about soccer and picked them because they won the world cup. But Brazilians were the ones that perfected soccer and if you look at the size of those countries, Brazil is the largest. And if you look at the names of each of the players on those teams, Brazil would have the most stars (Ronaldo, Ronaldihno, KaKa, Dida, Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Adriano, and Robinho). If you knew just a little about soccer, then you would know at least three of those players, you couldn't do that with the other teams. It's who has the most supporters, not the best team.
