If you have custodial rights, meaning you have court issued custody, then no. He cannot keep you from the kids. But if there is no documentaion declaring who has actual custody, then he can stop you from taking them.
And he cannot file abandonment if you have been paying for the childresn care. But I certainly hope you have canceled checks or receipts to prove it.

Whoever has custody of the kids gets them. If they wanted the kids, they can bring it to court to get the custody switched to them. But just paying for groceries and childcare for the kids means you are the best parent. Loving yoour kids and being there for them is what being a parent is about. Maybe ask yourself why they want the kids, are they going to have better oppurtunities with them or you. Also, look at what the kids want to do. It's there lives and should be part of the decision too.
