The list is endless, but more than likely its a combination of normal day to day stresses at school or at home and the fact that these are early days and a regular cycle has yet to be established.

Best thing.....to see the GP as you are bound to get a load of trashy answers on this subject using yahoo. There are a load of weirdos out here and I'm nort sure that I'd want the benefit of their dubious responses on the subject of a thirteen yr old girls periods.

How long has she been having periods. It's normal to have irregular periods within the first year or two of menstruation. Has she missed the two periods consecutively? If possible, ask her mother what her periods were like at that age. If she experienced the same thing, don't worry about it. Consult a doctor if you are still worried.

I'd take her to an OBGYN. I had the same problem but on regular basis before I started taking birth control. I was not sexually active as well at the time (13). They put me on Ortho Evra (the patch) and it fixed everything. Now they come regular and I have a possibility of having kids someday. Because if you do not get it fixed early on in the teens you have a high risk of not conceiving later on in life (missing a female hormone). My sister is an example.

Is she eating right? under 100 pounds?

Could be stress.. or could be depending on when she started her first periods.. that her body is just adjusting. Get her a doc's appointment, they can give her a checkup.. see whats going on.

Darn models these days are sooo thin that it's not natural, most are not getting their periods cause they are under 100 pounds.

Like many of them have mentioned, the causes are probably due to:
1. emotional stress
2. Hormones
3. Hereditary

Of course, it is unhealthy to have irregular mens over long period of time. I ever read that it may also due to cyst.

Commercially available suppelments to regulate hormones in which might help your daughter maybe evening primrose oil.

Others like vitamin E may help in cellular damage repair in which to a certain extend may help to regulate mens

The same thing happened to me at that age. The reason was actually shock to my system due to my dad dying. So, it could be an anxiety problem, stress due to bullying at school, general worries that affect teenagers or just her body still adjusting to becoming a woman. I hope that helps!

it could be one of many things. she may be anemic, and is keeping th blood from her uterus as nourishment for ther body. also, is she trying to lose weight? often, girls who skip periods are those who are on a diet that restricts them from eating certain foods. two months without a period may be a fluke or it could be one of the above, or something totally different. long tem skipping of menstruation can lead to amenorrhea (a child version off osteoporosis) and health complications later on down the line. if it persists, definitely see a professional about it. maybe wait a month or two or go in for a checkup, depending on availability of physicians/specialists in your area.

best of luck with this issue; i hope you unsolve the mystery

If pregnancy has definately been ruled out, then it could be due to stress, being underweight, being overweight or just that her cycle hasn't settled in yet.

It would probably be a good idea for her to see a doctor just to make sure nothing untoward is going on!

Stress, not eating right/eating disorder, hormones... could be anything really. If she's only just started her periods then I think it;s normal, not everyone starts with them regularly (as I can recall, mine were quite weird at first).

Get her checked out at the doctor's just in case, I would...
