Yes. Of course people like to state false IQ's in an attempt to make themselves appear smarter than they really are. It's like the male penis. You're never going to find out what the average is simply asking men how long it is; they're going to lie about it! Simply polling IQ's would result in an average of about 140 by the looks of it.
I'd also like to point out these people have likely also inflated their IQ. An IQ of 160 is defined as 1 in 31560, yet I frequently see people stating their scores are 160 or even higher!
However, there is also some sort of stereotype floating around the heads of smart people. It's some sort of myth that they have to be a certain way, for example extremely modest. Actually, a lot of people in the upper tier of IQ are not very modest at all; however, you can usually tell if someone is bluffing or not by the way they present themselves.

I agree. If everyone on YA! was honest about their IQs, this site would be the largest think tank on the internet and every university and government agency should be using this site for employee recruitment. I think that a lot of people get their IQs from internet IQ tests, which are hardly valid. I have never seen anyone get an IQ below 130 on any internet IQ test. They are electronic strokes to your ego and a way to make money by selling that "extended report."
The quote of an IQ is a quick way to a thumbs down in my book. If you are intelligent and you have a high IQ (that's valid), good for you. But I don't need your score. Prove to me that you're smart. Typing, "I have a IQ scor of 191- Ha! Ha! Sukkers" completely negates your statement.

I completely agree. The more someone has to brag about something, the more the exact opposite is probably the truth.
Some of the guys I've dated go on and on about how "nice" or how "intelligent" they are, and they turn out to be the dumbest psychopaths I've ever met.
If someone is really smart, they don't need to toss out their IQ numbers. If they're smart, we'll know it just by the way present themselves.

I agree. I am proud of my IQ, but I don't post it everywhere. People who publicly post their IQ are insecure and need to be more accepting of themselves.

I agree! espically when they post their IQ as being like 438. They have no clue what they are talking about. It is annoying and I usually think that person is dumb for even saying such a thing...

Okay, so I lied. They said my IQ was really 49. But I heard that isn't too good, so I made it up to 57.
Do you have a problem with that?
