In a guitar tab there are notes with a P.H. above them, meaning a pinch harmonic. They make a sort of squeal or high pitched noise.

these can be kind of difficult to pull off at first, but with practice you'll be doing them effortlessly, to do them, you need to let youre thumb glance off the string after youve struck it with youre pick, you will be able to tell if youve done it right.

The way I learned how to do them is a little odd, but it works. Do you know how to do artificial harmonics(I know its not what your going for but you need to know this so i can teach you pinches, youll see in a paragraph or two down)? If not, its just holding your fret finger lightly over the string and hitting it with the pick in a regular fashion-try it over frets twelve, seven, and three, those are the easiest to get a good sound out of.
Ok now on the A string, hold your seventh fret down regularly. This note tends to have easy pinches to it.while holding your pick regularly, stick your middle finger out and hold it lightly over the string right near the bottom of the neck pickup.while your hitting the string with the pick, keep moving your middle finger till you find the harmonic.Depending on how long your fret board is it might be a bit further up or down, but its usually right in that area.
Now that youve found it(hopefully), this is where you want to aim your pick.Hold the pick a bit closer to the tip then usual. When you strike the string, follow up immediatly afterwards with the flesh of your thumb against the string, right over the harmonic you found.

Distortion helps you hear harmonics better, so make sure you have some of that on.They are a little tricky to get at first, so if it sounds real sloppy dont worry about it.Hope that helps you out.
