I would start a wi-fi coffee shop. I totally love the atmosphere, but in my area there is just one and it is outside of town. People love coffee, love to surf the net while sipping the coffee, and love to relax. It does not have to be a big building, but with lots of coffee choices and pastries as well.

From the demand noted right here on Yahoo Answers, I would set up a business to help people work from home. Perhaps a home business clinic that would help to answer all of the questions about accounting, marketing, startup, financing, licensing, etc. You KNOW the market is out there from all of these same questions asked over and over again. Now, if someone would only come up with the Answers once and for all to employ these people with a legitimate business resource. The ideal business would offer newsletters, audio and video, lectures, one on one counseling, and whatever it takes to make money while helping other work-at-home entrepreneurs the chance to turn their dreams to reality. How's that for a win-win proposition??? Your target market is right here hungry for the answers. Let's brainstorm together on what Step 2 should be!!!

I would start a nonprofit for people suffering from homelessness. I would provide job training, meals and a place for them to call "home" while they are job training. I would provide psychiatric and socialization services. Upon completion of job training, I would assist them in finding affordable housing and other county-funded assistance, such as free health care, food stamps and whatever services were needed to enhance independence.

Pick something that you have experience in or a natural talent for. Research it to see if it's a profitable venture. Check to make sure the market in your area isn't glutted with competition.
A great business is one that you're good at and that is underserved in your area.
