Arrogance honestly, but Humility makes for a better example of sportsmanship

Very good question. Humility makes someone desirable, while arrogance makes someone feared. An athlete with too much humility will be called a "nice guy" but if he can perform in his profession, then he will be a gentleman and a good athlete. Whereas an athlete with too much arrogance lives and breathes violence and claims that he is superior to all competition, which will leave him feared all over his field. It's hard to say really which is a better trait, but from a non-competitive point of view, humility is far more important.
