If the seedpod is green, wait for it to dry and split. If dry bury it with the split facing upward in a depth of sand/soil 1/2 the pods size, water once, then sparingly - only when the soil dries out completely. Without knowing the seed that's the best I can tell you!

It sort of depends on the type of tree that the seed pod is from and where you live. Could you supply a little more info.Different trees have different requirements.
