Obviously, there seems to be general agreement that most of President Bush's actions have resulted in a weakened and more divided America.
Which policy or action do you think has been the MOST detrimental to our country?

By invading Iraq , before we found Bin Laden in Afghanistan , then not sending enough troops to finish the job . By allowing corruptions to run ramped in Iraq with the Reconstruction . Not training the Iraq army fast enough . They should have made sure that the Iraqis had electricity , running water before anything else . If they had keep the people happy , we wouldn't have the problems there are today in Iraq .
After 9/11 the first thing Bush should have closed the borders tight . We are not safer today then we were 9/10 , 01

Even with all the heinous things he has done around the world the biggest harm has come to the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights. Not only has he trashed both those documents, thrown out the idea of balance of powers with his signing statements that basically declare himself above the law but in doing this he has turned America from a country that the world saw as the pillar of hope and freedom to one that the rest of the world sees as no better than Russia and the other corrupt countries that are democracies in name only. Now the whole world sees that if it can even happen in America, if even here a madman can use political tricks, lies, fear and deceit to wrest freedom and democracy away from his populace that no place is safe. America has become no better than Iraq was when Saddam was in power. We have traded our freedom and liberty for a false sense of security. Ben Franklin would be saddened to hear his prophecy come true in the country he helped shape. Jefferson's statue in Washington must have tears running down his face when he sees the ideals he and Madison put forth that created a great nation be shoved aside in the name of power and profits.

The premise of this question is flawed.

Irrational Bush hating began with the Florida recounts.

Gore injected poison into the body politic in FL 2000. Twice before in American history we found ourselves in a similiar situatiuon. The Louisiana vote in 1876 and the Illinois vote in 1960 were both highly suspicious and could've been challenged by the losing candidate. Both Samuel Tilden and Richard Nixon chose not to for fear of the adverse effect it would have on the American politics. That fear was realized with Al Gore's spurious challenge in FL 2000. Who would ever have imagined that Al Gore would make Richard Nixon look good?

I'm sorry but I'm going to pick two things: first, letting spending balloon (some conservatvie!) while slashing taxes, creating a debt our grandchildren will still struggle to pay off and increasing America's dependnce on foreign lenders.

Second, by manufacturing a sideshow in Iraq rather than focusing on violent radical Islam, which was the real threat and inconnected to Iraq. The latter has now gotten stronger.

I would list his hatred of science and refusal to act on advice about the environment (which also has economic and security implications) but that will hurt the whole world, not just America.

I think the one with the biggest impact was the badly managed "war on terror".
That is:
To focus on Iraq and not enough on Afghanistan.

There is 7 times more US troops in Iraq than Afghanistan, which is where OBin laden lives in his rat castle.

During the first months of the war in Afghanistan, I was confident it was well done. Saving a lot of american soldiers by leveraging the power of the other factions agains the taliban. However, that allow Osama and his friends to escape to somewhere in Pakistan.

By allowing over 3,000 Americans to die on 9/11. For using 9/11 to put forth an American New World Order/Military Industrial Complex, that cares not for people, but for profit, and the expansion of the modern American Empire; all under the false guise of terrorism.

His pushing of free trade. That has led to a huge loss of industry, loss of government income that use to be import export tax, an increased tax burden on regular folk that is coming, it has to in order to pay for the deficit.

One thing that really got me mad at Clinton was he signed this into law after running a campaign against it. I know a Dem signed it in but this is a republican agenda, and Bush Jr is still pushing it today.

THE MILITARY COMMISSIONS ACT
This alone has not suspended, but totally eliminates, Habeas Corpus and demolishes our Bill of Rights. This is our Constitutionally protected right which separates us from other totalitarian fascist countries! NOTHING is more Un-American than this.
