We seem to both have large nipples, they protrude through bras and clothes. thimbal size they are. We are tired of the looks we get

I'm not a woman, but the most obvious answer that comes to mind is to wear a bra that has some type of padding. This should stop the nipple from protruding through the bra and shirt. If that doesn't work then tell the men/women who give you looks or tell you something rude or offensive to mind their own business and to stop looking at you. Your face isn't down there and it's disrespectful for someone to do that. Also, there is that old saying, "It's not polite to stare." Hope this helps.

Use large size bandaids to push the nipples in and prevent them from sticking out. It works; I have been doing this for years.

You didn't mention what type of bras you both wear. I have the same problem and I wear slightly padded bras so the padding helps mask the "bumps". Hope this helps.

My suggestion is buy bras with more padding.
Also, may I suggest the victoria secret Ipex bra? It's made of a material that's kind of like a wet-suit, (except REALLY comfy), it's pretty thick, so, probably it should cover you.
