Testicles have to be maintained at a slightly lower temperature than normal body temperature to maximize sperm production. For this reason, they are outside your body in a scrotum that hangs loose or draws up tight depending on the external temperature. If you confine your testicles in tight briefs or other forms of garments, then you are defeating the perfect design mother nature has for this part of you. Thus you can lower sperm production.
In addition I am not sure wearing tight garments in the genital region is all that healthy as they trap sweat, urine and other substances. If you create a warm, dark, moist zone, bacteria and viruses can flourish. So be meticulous in your cleaning, do not wear anything tight all the time (ie sleep naked, go commando or whatever it takes to give your genitals as much 'free' time as possible) and you should be fine.

In general any tight garment is not advising for testicles.
The true reason is in the purpose of the scrotum itself.
In fact it has the aim to keep balls far from the body so to reach a lower temperature. Sperm needs a temperature lower than the body for living more and good. Besides tight clothes often don't let blood flowing correctly.

In no way do briefs hurt anyone's testicles. This is a myth. Testicles are hurt by bad diet, traumatic injury, cancer, by many things, but not by underwear.

they are'nt particulary bad for you. the reason you will have heard it is because the testicles need to be at a lower temperature than the rest of the body to produce fertile sperm. so therefore if you're wearing something tight fitting the temperature will be raised resulting in infertile sperm.

Because they don't have any oxygen flowing in, and if you hurt yourself down there you won't have that much "prtotection" to aid you, and if you get hurt really bad you might become infertile or get testicle cancer.
