high 70's low 80's....... the better ones mid 80's........

My high school had about 900 kids in it, and I could throw 80 mph which was probably about average. We played larger teams (1500+) and they didn't seem to throw much harder. A decent team will probably have someone who can throw 85 or so. Upper 80's is pretty rare, but still doable.

I would say that if it's freshman ball you get from 60-75 (with a few freaks at 80) but if you are talking about varsity?

Expect around 85, mostly varsity contains guys throwing better curveballs and changeups rather than throwing smoke. Though there are a lot that throw fire, just look for more junk-type pitches.

If they are flame throwers in the 80's and 90's. My brother in law was tossing at 98 mph as a sophomore in a school of 600.

yehh my school is private only about 400 kids in my school..only about 78 MPH
