Well, not really, cuz they are never able to qualify for one, so uefa wouldnt really want to award them a place at the expense of a better team! But yeah, if they manage to work something out with England, they might become joint hosts, with automatic qualification too!

If it was in terms of whether the people would support the tournament by attending the matches etc. then yes, there is no reason why Scotland would not be a very good host of such a football tournament. But of course, Uefa and Fifa require more than public enthusiasm for their tournaments, it requires several stadia capable of holding a minimum of thirty/forty thousand spectators and Scotland possesses only four such stadia and three of them are in Glasgow (i.e. Hampden, Ibrox and Celtic Park). The other stadium of the required capacity is Murrayfield in Edinburgh.
It is clear, therefore, that the answer to your question is that Scotland could not host such a tournament on her own as things stand at the moment. We would have to have a joint bid with either England, Wales and/or Ireland for such a tournament to come here.

Not on their own. Three good grounds in Glasgow, one in Edinburgh and perhaps one in the far north in Aberdeen and thats it. Apart from Rangers and Celtic the crowds are only the same as in League 1 or 2 so there will never be the money to have enough grounds spread over the country with a big enough capacity to stage a major tournament by themselves. Nor will Wales or Ireland so surely only a shared competition would be possible. Sadly the rules don't allow England to stage a World Cup/Euro champs with matches played in Cardiff or Glasgow which would surely be a start?

I think the short answer to your question is YES Obviously it will take a lot to make this happen. I think a lot of people put failure down to the manager's of teams when really it's the quality of the players. Scottish footballers are good players but not on an international scale. I think the lack of support for Scottish youngsters from the deprived areas of Scotland also play a role in the situation we are in. There needs to be FREE facilities and training for all young boys possibly in our schools. Every school should have a football team where kids can come and train FOR FREE! This will see a rise in good players eventually coming out and hopefully one day playing for Scotland..... So for me i do believe Scotland will qualify for a major finals but it won't be for a while yet and i think the answer to making Scottish football better lies with our youngsters and making sure they can get access to the training they need based purely on individual ambition and not on how much money their parents can support them with.

The fact that they were considering a joint bid with Ireland for Euro 2008 a few years ago suggests not as the only stadia up to scratch for such a competition are in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.

Yes they could. But as only 2 stadia per city are permitted that would mean only one of the OF grounds being used along with Hampden .I think the solution would be to 'borrow'St james Park and the Stadium of light then they would have the 8 stadiums needed to host a Euro Nations tourno as I am sure the powers that be could be persuaded to allow Murryfield to be used .
I am not a Scot myself but I hope you get your wish ,it would be a shot in the arm to Scottish footy

Footieano took the words out of my mouth. I was just thinking about this last week.
Scotland, Wales and Ireland, in addition to England, are in the decision making body, the IFAB.
Accordingly they too, should have a chance to stage a major tournament, perhaps in a joint bid with either Wales or Ireland (N. Ireland).
Anyway, give footie the best answer.

scotland couldnt host a flashing contest in a kilt factory
dont make me laugh,
although its the only way for them to gain qualification to a major event
they dont have enough stadiums and they dont have the funds to build new ones, apart from celtic rangers and and maybe gretna there isnt any money in scottish football and never will be
so i guess maybe they might have a chance at the 2056 eurovision song contest but that about it
