hi,
i recently had a check engine light on and went to dealership to check what the codes are. i have 2 p1457 evap codes. its says that i have a leak near the charcoal canister.i have checked all fuses and they are all fine. i have replaced all the hoses that are in the evap system and installed all evap components : charcoal canister, evap purge control solenoid valve, evap control canister vent shut valve, evap bypass solenoid valve, evap two way valve.
i reseted the ecu to clear the codes and i drove around for a couple of days and the check engine light came on again and found that the same codes came back(p1457 x2). i dont know what to do? any suggestions???

P0455 and P0456 are Evap gross and small leak codes Your car P1457 is a electrical circuit malfunction to the purge control or vacuum vent valve. Read the code carefully and write down the freeze frame data too! Some detective work is needed now unplug the purge and vacuum vent valve whichever applies then check for power one side and the ecm grounds the other side plug it back in next check the terminals at the ecm power should be present at both wires to the evap part at the ecm. if not check the wiring between the ecm and affected valve. For this you will need the evap valve page photocopied from the factory service manual. wiring diagram for the evap control system. I look for rodent droppings too those mice will chew thru wires!

You need a battery. After you install the new battery, start the engine, and put a voltmeter across the terminals, if it reads less than 13 volts you need an alternator.
