Not much is known historically about Pontius Pilatus {Pilatus}, The only evidence that he was governer of Judea is a plaque mounted on an ancient and small ampitheatre outside Bethlehem saying that he dedicated the place, like politicians still do today!..Pilatus was a military man, and a very strict disciplinarian, That he ordered the crucifixion of "Joshua ha' Nazrii bin Yusef"..Jesus of Nazereth, son of Joseph is pretty much beyond doubt!..Cricifiction was a codified Roman punishment for crimes like Sedition against Rome and Caesar, or such serious crimes against the Roman Empire as a tribunal so declared!..Pilatus was not liked, and in his efforts to raise taxes in judea he upset too many people with his methods, including Tiberius Caesar, who didnt want a Jewish uprising on his hands, So tiberius after putting up with him for a while , well, he was getting the taxes in!..Finally took the Senates advice and Pilatus was exiled to some small island or even southern Spain, nobody is sure where, But he never went back to Rome, certainly not while Tiberius was Caesar!..
