Well, its very complex. The striker has to be behind atleast 2 defenders when the pass is made. The yellow line marks the second last defender(the last one being the goalkeeper), when the pass is made. However, if a player is directly not involved in play, but not behind two defenders, its not offside! Complex isnt it, how u define directly involved! If u watched the world cup, then go back to ribery's goal against spain, where henry was clearly offside, but not involved in any way in the move, and so the goal stood. I think it would have been offside in a similar case in hockey..

i'm a woman and my daughter performed soccer for some years - that's what I understand with reference to the offside rule it can't be complete, yet i'm happy with my information and might get by using a interest with out being too perplexed, so i'm hoping it helps gamers would possibly no longer bypass the final "defender" of the opposing group (no longer counting the goaltender) on that communities' fringe of the sphere. the only time a participant would bypass the final defender is that if she or he's in possession of the ball. as quickly as the participant with the ball passes that final defender than all people on the group would bypass by using this "line of protection". So relatively, this rule prevents a collection from posting a participant close to the opposing group's objective to watch for an probability to attain. the challenge that confuses human beings approximately this rule are each and all the little further information which impression no rely if the ref calls an offsides violation or no longer. A participant who does no longer impression the play in any respect will many times no longer get called for an offsides violation, so i think it relatively is the two area of the guideline by some ability or in little ones' soccer they'd in simple terms be greater lenient.. stable success! via the way, being condescending is a definite thank you to make a woman lose HER temper.

Offside is a Law in football (soccer) which effectively limits how far forward attacking players may be when involved in play. Simply put, a player cannot gain an advantage by waiting for the ball near the opposing goal with only the goalkeeper between him and the goal.
The offside rule is famous for being quite hard to explain, and people not familiar with the game often have difficulty in understanding it.
look at the picture here it will help u alot :

notice how the blue player is infront of the other players.

The offside rule states that a player should not be behind the defenders when the ball is sent to him by a team mate. He should be on the line or in front of the defenders of the opposite team.

to tell you the truth, at first, i did not understand it AT ALL, but after about 3 or 4 people kept explaining it to me, i got it. ok, so when you pass the ball to someone, there should be defenders between the person and the goal, like it cant just be the guy and the goal, it will be offsides. its ok if you dribble past the defense and stuff, or your next to them when you get a ball then go past them, but you cant be behind them, while theyre up front or it will be offside.
here, this will explain it: http://youtube.com/watch?v=H_3IFEHd6Io

The yellow line is probably showing you where the last defender is, if you cross the line you're off side????
I never played FIFA 06, so i'm not sure what the yellow line is.
