Yes, I have felt that before. It's almost life self hypnosis in a way because one becomes detached from everything as if you're watching a scene play out from afar and are unaffected by it. I'm not exactly sure what it means. It may be chemical and it may be psychological. It's hard to tell. I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes a more or less permanent state and then you are in danger of going catatonic.
Have you been through a lot of stress lately? If so it might be your mind taking a break.

Have a lovely day...cheers!

To my magical contact above me, That is one of the best quotes from Waking Life, which is an amazing movie. I do the whole dreaming while awake but I lucid dream as well.

Yeah. I've had the deja vue thing. Where I feel like I have already experienced what is happening and I feel like I already know the ending. And I've also had the dreamy feeling where the stuff I'm going through is too terrible to actually be truely happening. And also the Wow! This is too good to be true feeling. I can't believe this is actually happening. But I don't know if there is a name for that.

Depending on whether it occurred when you were falling asleep or when you were awakening, it could be either a hypnogogic hallucination (falling asleep) or a hypnopompic hallucination (upon awakening). Commonly, individuals experiencing this know that they are awake, but their dream intrudes upon their waking life for a brief time. You may also have felt as if you were paralyzed, which is also common in this phenonmenon.
