drinking excessive caffine can cause low birth weight, low brain activity/growth and possible chance of SIDS when the baby is born. Though most books say stay away from caffine...they do also say you can have some in MODERATION. switching to decaf or diet sodas help a little bit but in the end its your decision to drink or not drink caffine

Keep 1 cup of normal coffee per day, if you absolutely need it. For the rest switch to decaf.
- Caffeine can actually hurt your baby.
- It can influence your pregnancy.
- I'm sorry to say that you seem to be an addict to coffee. If you drink too much during pregnancy, your child is likely to become addict, too.
You know that there's caffeine not only in coffee, so take the chance instead of drinking black or green tea tasting one of the various mixtures of herb teas!
Good luck and a lot of willpower

I drink coffee sometimes, not a lot though. I asked the doctor about it the other day, and he said one to two cups were fine, but no more than that per day. He also said to include soft drinks and black tea in those 2 cups as they contain caffeine also. He didn't say however what would happen to the baby if I drank more than the 2 cups.

Yes...your baby will have great chance of being born with ADD and have ADHD into adulthood. I know this because it what happened to me, my mother drank expresso coffee the first 6 moths while pregnant with me. She drank it all day long until her Dr. told her it wasn't good for me and she has to stop for the rest or her term. She didn't realize how addicted she was to caffeine until she stopped right after that visit. The next 3 months while carrying me and the withdrawals was unbearable. So , the answer to your question is a definite yes, I live with the consequences everyday of my life.

I have been reading alot of books and articles lately, I am 10 weeks pregnant, and they say that one or two cups a day doesnt seem to have any bad effects. I used to drink alot of coffee and cut down to one in the morning.

~~~I would switch to decaff for sure,,,,you may want to talk to your Dr about the dos and donts of pregnancy. The first few weeks of pregnancy is very crucial to the development of a baby,the babys nervouse system is developing right now,,,, I would definatly limit your amount of caffeine wether it is coffee or soda,or tea ,,even chocolate has caffeine. Say yes to the decaff :)
Yes it can. The first three months are the most critical of your child's life. That is when the baby is most vulnerable because it is when it is developing all the nerves and muscles, etc.
