contacting spirits?

What is the best way to contact a spirit in the house or just in general.

The reason I ask is because I've been reading a lot about paranormal and people who have comunicated with them...just trying to put two and two together everyone has their own ways of communicating with the dead even if it's in prayer or ritual maybe even just saying hi...what really is more effective? is there a better way? only way to find out is to ask.

You have gotten some really stupid answers. Some of them are not too bad. The one that said you would open a door to evil tho is the one that made me want to write to you. Who is she to assume that all spirits are evil? Does she not realize that some spirits are good? Does she believe that only evil people die? She is wrong, do not listen to her.
Since it is pretty obvious to me that you are not a witch, (I can tell by the way you phrased your question), my best answer to you would be to find someone who IS a witch and ask her to assist you. If the person is truly a follower of the religion of Witchcraft she (or he) should be perfectly happy to help you. Please know that if this person is truly a witch she will NOT ask you to pay her for doing this. We do not accept money for doing this sort of thing.
Halloween (or Samhain) is the time during the year that the veil between the worlds is at its thinnest and it is easiest to pass thru. You should try to find someone right away. Feel free to write to me if I can be of any more help. Good luck sweetie!

there are a couple of ways you can try and a couple of ways i suggest you avoid. you can try using a digital recorder by yourself when it is quiet and you are alone. ask it questions, and pause in between questions to give the spirit time to answer. when you play the recording back through headphones, you may find some sounds that you did not hear while you were asking the questions. this wont necessarily work the first time, so be patient. another way is to just converse with the spirit without a recording device. you may get a response with knocks on walls or furniture, or you may get a response in the form of a dream. this works best if you feel you know the spirit in question (family member or close friend). i have made contact with spirits using both of these methods. you need to avoid using a ouija board at all costs. this can open a portal which you cannot control. you cannot control who speaks through it, and you may be deceived or unknowingly allow evil or negative energies a place in your home. also please avoid conducting a seance for the same reason, unless you have an experienced trusted medium with you. good luck with your quest.

Many people have different experiences on the human connection and the spiritual connection. Some people have been know to contact the dead through dream interpretations. Some through hypnotic trances. Some through rituals. During the time of All Hollows Eve is when the connection is at it's strongest point. There are so many different ways that a person can make contact their ancestor spirits; which come when and if they choose to do so. Each contact that I've ever had was uniquely different.

This question is a litle strange but here is good way to cantact a spirit. Lit up a white candle and turn off all lights the best time for this is Halloween night. Start chanting this-I call upon all the GOOD spirits that are here come tome and hear my will.... and then you ask them VERY POLITELY what you want them to do. Jusat never ask them to harm anyone or bring evil or to haunt you or someone you know.
