YES, CONFIRMED. All major league baseball umpires must wear black underwear while on the job in case their pants split.

I don't know where I can confirm this fact from, but there is a website (listed in sources) that says that MLB Umpires have to wear black underwear. Since the website throws facts randomly, good luck finding it.
I think the reason for them having to wear black underwear is because they bend down all the time to see the play better, and in this position, it is possible for their underwear to be visible. Therefore, Major League Baseball has the umpires wear black underwear so it'll match their uniform and not be so apparent.

No can't confirm...
...but if you think about it - it would make sense...
The umpire uniforms are black as I recall, how distracting to the crowd it might it be if some other colour (yellow, white/off white, pink) was visible every time the umpire bent over. --shutter-- there's an ugly thought for ya underwear creeping up or droopy/saggy pants -- HELLO White stripe!

There is no restriction to what color underwear an umpire must wear because if he is doing his job correctly, his shirt is tucked in and he could be wearing women's underwear for all the league cares.
