I have been aghast at the number of complete losers who do up their cars so they look like they're about an inch off the ground, perhaps with a neon blue light underneath. My curiosity has been sparked by them however: What on earth happens when they reach traffic calming measures? Do they risk chipping their meticulously polished dual colour metallic bodywork? Do they have hydraulics which lifts them clear of danger a la Inspector Gadget?

In answer to mr stingray:

I am 25 years old, but of course my grammar and vocabulary far exceed my years.

I use the term "losers" to describe the general character who tends to modify their car in such ways: usually between 25 and 35, not much luck with the ladies, possibly still living at home with their parents, gets off on hanging around in car parks revving their engines and doing "donuts" etc. Earring optional.

Do you have an earring? I bet you have one of those racing seatbelt things.

Hopefully the speed bump makes them spin wildly out of control, hit a tree and die a slow horrible death.

This is serious, i know a guy were i live whos car causes him to reverse over speed bumps to get home. another guy also has to do a 3 point turn to aim the car backwards, to get over a hump into the local car park. others aim one wheel off the hump and one on the hump. to move over them where possible. hydraulic suspension is getting popular for driven show cars due to the calming measures. Neons are naff....

My cousin has a modified Saxo and is very low off the ground, he goes speed bumps very slowly. Once there wasa big speed bump and he went over literally at 1mph, old people in front were crossing the road in front him cause he was going that slow, it was funny.

They probably think their car is invincible and not slow down.
Very easy to damage their rims and undercarriage. Cars with tires with low aspect ratios (narrow sidewall) have bad comfort characteristics. They think they look cool though.
Give me a big block V-8 anyday!

Ewanspewan, would You care to explain to the good readers why people who modify cars are losers? Would You rather they spent their money on heroin, or crack? Would You rather the time they spend in their cars be spent robbing banks, or starting riots? Why does it bother You so much? You sound about 50 anyway, which would answer my question.
