I understand that there is a cost of living adjustment depending on where you live......but really whats up with that? In parts of California, a 2 bedroom condo costs somewhere in the neighborhood of 4-500 grand!!! Here in North Carolina.....the same 400 grand would buy just about any combination of beds and baths you could ever want and square footage is around 4 or 5 thousand sqft or more? ........What makes a person in Cali pay more for a house than someone in NC? A dollar is still a dollar no matter where you are in the US. Its like paying 10 dollars for a Happy meal in Cali and paying 3 dollars for the same in NC...... someone please educate me...........no offense to anyone in advance.....some folks take this stuff way to personally.

and for "Drew" who seems to be so bragadocious .....yay for dolphins and yay for Disneyland.....if you've seen one dolphin you've seen 'em all....I used to live in Cali too.....saying that a place is boring is just your opinion ...just like me saying people from Cali are superficial....only an opinion, "yay...i can look out my window and see the ocean"......"dolphins are priceless" blah, blah....you probably think people from NC are hicks and rednecks too.....hell, .... i was just asking why you would pay so much for so little.....

It is a matter of cost of living and supply and demand. I have friends in New York City paying $2000 for what is essentially a shoebox size efficiency which rents for about $350 in my town. You'll see this in most major cities.

Well let see i now can walk to my living room and see the ocean, This morning I just back from surfing sort of a bummer small waves, but i saw several dolphins" sort of priceless".

Just tow weeks ago went to Disneyland"i have annual passes, so i can go any time i want. UN like the east coast there is not humidity so thick that your are never dry, and we do not have Nate's flying up are nose out hear. The only thing i miss from the east cost is firefly's in the spring and summer.

Now are far as home price goes that is come to a end very fast since the bubble is breaking.

Economics. There are more people living in LA and more people wanting to live there so supply and demand makes land prices higher and thus makes house prices higher.

I have lived in North Carolina.. and its boring no offense.

We don't only pay for our home but we are paying for our social life.

We are movers and shakers out here and we don't like to be bored.

That why I move back home. I couldn't take it.
