How long's it been there? Do you have a doctor's appointment coming up soon?

I'd say leave it to nature unless it seems to be affecting her hearing in which case get a doctor to remove it sooner rather than later.

Don't stick things in her ear yourself. I've had a perforated eardrum 3 times (not from sticking things in there, I just have a weak eardrum. I had the operation to get a tube put in it when I was 5 because of frequent ear infections. The tube fell out when I was 8 and the eardrum has perforated 3 times since.) It's no fun, that DOES affect your hearing (at least until it heals if you're lucky) and once it's perforated your even MORE likely to get an ear infection.

Here are some recommendations on dealing with ear wax buildup: http://parentcenter.babycenter.com/refcap/bigkid/ghealth/ghearing/65857.html

Take care!

The best solution would be to leave it to nature. If you feel strongly it should be taken care of, then take the little one to the doctor and let him/her sort it out.

Nothing should be placed in the ear, especially in and infants, as she/he could unexpectedly jerk or flinch causing irreparable damage such as puncturing of the eardrum.

I know the temptation to go ahead and remove it is strong, but you should at the very least wait and speak with the child's doctor if not actually go to see him/her.
