salsalate is closely related to aspirin, in fact, in the body, they both become salycilic acid and do the same job. They are primarily antiinflammatory medications with all the same risks and side effects, such as, thinning the blood, and increasing risk of internal bleeding from ulcers etc. They are used primarily in the treatment of arthritic conditions.
