Hi, I am curious to see what people are thinking about this movie? I am not American but I think it is an interesting commentary on free speach. That said, not being American I also have no sensitivity to anything that is said about Bush so I am curious how Americans both Bush supports and not view this issue and other non-Americans like myself view it. I started thinking about this because I saw online this morning that NBC is refussing to play the trailer.
I would prefer honest intellegent answers to liberal vs constervative bashing.

I think the Dixie Chicks are wonderful and wish their we're more Americans with their convictions. We need free speech and should not be black listed as in the macarthey era.The day we are stifled for our speech is the day we are no longer America. The soldiers blogs that toured Iraq are even confiscated in some cases and censored in others. We need to turn back into a democracy by voting democrat nov. 8th.

Free speech can take on many forms just one is the spoken word. The the Dixie Chicks can not under stand that their fans spoke back to them with actions. They told her Why should I listen to your songs if your making statements I do not like. The lead singer all but said How dare you have a comment on my statement.
Yes the Chicks have the freedom to speak out, but once you do every one has the same right to tell you what they think. The Chicks just do not believe that.

The Dixie Chicks are just another group of entertainers, and not very good ones, who are drumming up publicity for their act to sell tickets and to sell CDs. Nothing more.
Natalie Mains' big mouth did some damage to their sales because their venue is Country music and folks who listen to Country Music tend to be Conservatives and support the current administration. Most of the big name entertainers in Country Music took them to task for her stupid comment and the result is that no one cares about their music anymore. Many of their concerts have been cancelled due to poor ticket sales and they just don't get it.
Now they just can't understand why their fan base disappeared. Liberals who might agree with their philosopy don't listen to County Music because that would be beneith them. Country Music appeals mostly to working people rather than the Brie & Chablis Crowd. they tend to look down their noses at others and especially those who like Country Music.
Their latest attempt to make a buck, because that's what this is all about, is to produce this stupid movie about the controvery that cost them their fan base. they think that it's a bout politics and that the networks should advertise it for free, but it's not about politics, it's about entertainers being stupid.

Love MadTv!
They can say what they want and I think it shows what most not all but MOST people think of their comment by not going to their concerts, radio station banning their music, etc.
If some one really want to watch it they can. By a tv station not playing the trailer well that's their right, other are airing the trailer.
I was in the USMC-combat vet. and will not watch which is my right!

I only wish it had come out BEFORE election day. The 'liberal media' strikes again as the corporate heads hold it until after the election as a favor for their GOP buddies.

I would not pay to go see the movie. Certainly free speech is an important element of American society, but my choice not to support those I don't agree with is also a freedom.

We are brought up with the concept of free speech and we buy into it.....now it seems free speech has conditions when it pertains to the President.
