How many types of cheetahs are there (The Animal)?

I want to know about the animal cheeatah, not cheaters.

There's only one species of cheetah in existence. It's scientific name is Acinonyx jubatus. The so-called King cheetah (Acinonyx rex) is not considered a separate species by most scientists working in the field.

Wikipedia claims there are 5 known subspecies:
* Acinonyx jubatus hecki — West African Cheetah
* Acinonyx jubatus jubatus — Southern African Cheetah
* Acinonyx jubatus raineyii — East African Cheetah
* Acinonyx jubatus soemmeringii — Central Asian Cheetah
* Acinonyx jubatus venaticus — The Asiatic Cheetah.

HOWEVER, there is controversy about this.

Many people believe that all african cheetahs are very closely related, and in fact there are at most only two subspecies - The African Cheetah and the Asian Cheetah.

There are 2 species of cheetas,they are:-
1)african cheetah-the normal yellow cheetah found in africa.(1st site shows cheetah).
2)king cheetah-a cheetah with unusual markings on its body.(2nd site shows king cheetah)
