Fear is nothing more than being INTIMIDATED by the thing or situation that you're dealing with. Simply attack this problem at the very basic level; ask yourself why am I intimidated by.....such and such? Most of the time it you will find that you really have no reason to be intimidated or fearful. Keep talking logically and positively to yourself. Our brains can be retrained.....all living things can be retrained to respond differently to external or internal stimuli.

I have had to conquer many fears in the last five years. Usually at first I don't think I can. Then I rationalize why I have to do what is expected of me, (I hate funerals and I have been to like 8 the past five years.) So I just put myself on auto pilot and suck it up and just do it. After you do it you feel a great burden has been lifted and you can say to yourself, "I CAN do this!" Then try to get your mind off it by reading, watching TV or whatever you want.

However that said you will never completely conquer fear. Some fear is healthy because it keeps us from doing things that might cause us harm...I am talking more of irrational fear or something that you have a hypersensitivity to...

I once read an autobiography of oldtime actor Jackie Cooper. He had a fear of flying...so he overcame the fear by taking flying lessons. Men who have fear of being rejected by women lose the fear increasingly the more they are rejected. So challenge your fears...harness them like they were a wild bull. Learn to know the true nature of what you are afraid of. Ask yourself what's the worse-case scenario. How much of a deficit on your whole live could the feared activity generate.

No matter how we like to break it down.....we all have fear and show fear to some degree. Fear is just how people deal with the unknown.

Now, how we deal with the different degrees of fear is the real issue for me. Introduce yourself little by little to the situation and over time the unknown becomes easier to manage.

Fear is a survival response, I wouldn't want to conquer it, suspect Iwould end up dead if I did. Only fools have no fear. But, learn to control your response to fear, be aware of why you fear and react appropriately to it.
