Obviously, he's used his writing to try to deal with the accident. In "The Dark Tower" series, he himself is a character, and the accident plays a pivotal role in the plot.
The man who was driving the van has since died.

He has gone back to writing again, but I do think he had given it up for awhile. He's physically recovered from his car accident, but has had problems emotionally. He suffered a lot of post-traumatic stress, and went through a lot of anger and resentment, understandably. I would love to read a new thriller from him though, but like someone else said, he's going to be releasing a romance novel.

He's recovered. He still writes among other things. I don't care for his books, I find him quite long winded. I live in Maine though so every time he so much as sneezes it's on the news. Dang low crime rate. :)

He has just published what I understand to be an eerie romance called Lisey's Story. I just got it but have not started it yet.
I understand he has pretty much recovered but will always have some residual pain.

Stephen King is still alive and writing. Incidently, he purchased the van that hit him at auction and had it crushed.
