According to the "new" laws, it IS illegal.(They want you to buy another copy in EACH format that you use!!)

HOWEVER, they have NOT yet recinded the original copyright law, which says that FOR YOUR OWN USE, you may make a backup copy of ANY copyrighted material you own, ON ANY MEDIA.

I've been transferring from one media to another for years, and don't intend to stop.

If you have a computer with a sound card, or on-board sound, that has a "line-in" connection, then all you need are the cables to connect the turntable to the system. (If a casette player, be sure it has a "line-out" connector, or obtain an adaptor if you have to use the speaker connections.) ALL OS's have a sound recorder, usually found under the "entertainment" heading!

You simply "play" the song into the computer, storing on the HD and then proceed from there.

READ your computer or sound card manual for information on your computer's sound system.

Not sure wha tyou mean by "Unload", but you have every right to turn the LP into an MP3 for YOUR OWN USE.

As soon as you either share or sell the MP3, you are entering illegal realms.

Its not illegal to have a backup copy. I do this with DVDs, CDs, Games, Software so I dont' have to worry about messing up the actual bough version. But to give it away like allowing uploading from your computer to the internet would be illegal
