When I fill my gas tank I can only get about 1/2 gal in before the backsplash. This continues as I fill the tank. It started about a month ago at 5 gal. and has worked it's way down to 1/2 gal. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

There is a kink in a vent line, or the "control valve" is defective. Do you get a check engine lite? If so, have the dealer run the code to find out what the problem is. Most warranties cover emission problems for 50,000 miles.

This can happen if the gas station fuel out put is greater than 10 gal a minute or there is something wrong with your fuel filler and On Board Fuel Vapor Recovery System. Either way check with the manufacture of your car make and model if there is a recall or technicial service bulliten. Car makers do not like lighting there customers on fire! Really makes a bad image.

If your tank bas a flexible hose between the filler cap and the tank,(Which most cars have.) it is probably crimped . That would be a good enough reason for slow filling. See a mechanic.
