How did congress approve going to war in Iraq? I've been watching debates on the Sunday morning news shows for weeks now, and each and every democrat running for office claims they were ALWAYS against the war and that they have been an OUTSPOKEN critic since day one. With all that criticism and resistance , how was it that their votes were FOR invading Iraq?

You have to look at the information given to the Congress from the Bush administration at the time. They were told Iraq had WMD's
and we were going to be attacked with drones and blah blah blah whipping the Congress into a frenzy. It was a nice snow job. But remember Congress does not enjoy a favorable poll rating either.
Based on the information given Congress approved the action with the stipulation Bush would return to the UN for its approval a step he did not follow through on.

How could people get so stupid as not to remember it was a Republican controlled Congress that gave Bush his security forces for the oil industry? Here's a link in Wikipedia that gives an example of Republican/Conservative lying and propaganda:

welll, for one thing congress was controlled by the republicans, for another all politicians are liars, and they claim that they were given faulty "intelligence" about the war, and you dont have to be for the war to vote to give the troops the money and equipment they need.

They were misled, like the American public, to believe that Al Quaida Terrorist camps and WMD existed in Iraq. It's what I call the "Penis Problem". We are afraid, as Americans, that there is something bigger and badder than we are. Which there is, it is called fear.

We were not told that Osama and Saddam HATED each other. We were not told that all WMD were destroyed after the first gulf war. Now we know, we should let it reflect in our voting, because ignorance is not bliss.

It is called "Waffling" it is what people do when they want to appear to fall in line behind their political parties lastest position. All parties do it, but the democrats have refined the art to a state never before thought possible.
