Firstly, the information you have given is not enough to give a rough diagnosis. (I am in final year medical school)

Secondly, it is not a hernia. Hernias do not occur in this area, they occur in the groin, near the tummy button and rarely along the centre of the abdomen (linea alba). So to the other people given answers, please dont just guess!

Finally, see a doctor or tell us more:

1. Pain on breathing or coughing?
2. Type of pain? sharp/dull. Does the pain seem to move?
3. COughing up any sputum? What colour?
4. Hows your stomach? Have you had more indigestion than normal?
5. IS there any visible bruising at this site?
6. Has this recieved any trauma?

No one is going to be able to diagnose your problem. You need to see a doctor and they will probably need to do some tests to identify the problem.

I recently had something similar, dull pain in my left side near my hip. My doctor sent me for a pelvic ultrasound (to check for ovarian cancer), an internal ultrasound, and a colonoscopy. Thankfully all the tests were negative.

It could be any number of things but you should see your doctor, your health is nothing to mess around with. I wish you the best.

You should see a doctor. Your pancreas is there and that's an important organ.

My grandmother had discomfort in that area and didn't do anything about it until it was really bad and, by then, the tumor on her pancreas had gotten too enmeshed in the pancreas to be removed so please see a doctor and make sure they check your pancreas out thoroughly.
