They was a documentary on TV, shown quite a few times, arguing that we never actually went to the moon and that the footage was filmed in Area 51 (the most secret area in America, anybody who goes near it would be shot dead on site). It was interesting in analysing the footage, for example, how come there were no starts visible in the background on the actual footage? What does everyone else think of this?

The Apollo 13 trip which nearly ended in disaster and was clearly part of the build up to the real thing , was that also part of the conspiracy ? The technology was there and you can plot the course of other space missions as part of the same unbroken line of development . The ability to do some of the other space stuff that has been achieved and is continuing to be done so makes me conclude that the landings were a reality .

Well I never doubted it at the time but when you think that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone & shot Kennedy with three different weapons in a nano second from three different angles, then perhaps a conspiracy theory could hold some water (or should I say moon dust). There was a "cold war" race with the Soviets for certain.
I'd still like to think that they did land but I guess Neil Armstrong & Buzz are the best guys to ask.

The best evidence for believing that we DID go to the moon is the Russians. They were in the 'race' to get there, and monitored everything the Americans did. It's obvious that they would have been watching everything about the moon-landing mission, and would have been the first to know if it was not actually happening. Many of the conspiracy theorists come from America, but the Russians are convinced that the moon-landing was real!

Of course we went to the moon. If not, somebody in the NASA
team would have written a book to earn fame and money, with
all details! And the Russians, Soviets at the time, they surely
would know and tell tale. Would like to clarify that only one side
of the moon has sunlight and that is the reason you cannot see
any stars. The other side is permanently dark.

Yes...

I think this must be one of the most common conspiracy theory questions on yahoo...it seems to get asked almost everyday.

Good luck - there are plenty of other conspiracy theories for you to believe in….if you're that gullible.

EDIT:
'According to a 1999 Gallup poll, about 6% of the population of the United States has doubts that the Apollo astronauts walked on the Moon.'...so that's 18 Million Americans!

confident, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin incredibly landed on the Moon in 1969 and there have been 5 next landings too. We even have snap photos of the Lunar Module descent stages on the Moon now.

i think that we did actually go to the moon because there is evidence on the moon of rockets landing and taking off. you can see the marks on the moons serface. i am actually studying astronomy and i will ask my professor what other evidence there is for the moon landings. also it is not always possibe to see stars from outer space when you are out side our atmosphere. my teacher said that the ozone is like a magnifing glass. dont know whether that is true or not
hope i helped

The theory is NASA faked the whole moon walk thing because the Russians were making us look bad in the space race. We would to have had to go to alot of trouble to fake something that spectacular just to look better than another country.

Well...one of my favourite conspiracy theories...

There are 2 views of thought...it seems too big a secret (a la Kennedy conspiracy) to be kept after 40 years..

There id another TV show that debunks all the points of the first one that suggested it was all a ruse..

check out this article ...well worth a read..

Any one who disputes this just hasn´t done their homework.

The Top 10 Reasons Why No Man Has Ever Set Foot on the Moon:

10:-The Soviets had a five-to-one superiority to the U.S. in manned hours in space. They were first in achieving the following seven important milestones:

• First man-made satellite in earth orbit…
• First man in space…
• First man to orbit the earth…
• First woman in space…
• The first crew of three astronauts onboard one spacecraft…
• The first space walk…
• The first to have two spacecrafts orbiting simultaneously…
This put America at a perceived military disadvantage in missile technology during the very height of the Cold War.

9:-Newly retouched photographs correct errors from previously released versions. Why would they be updating thirty-year-old pictures if they really went to the moon?

8-Enlarged photographs underneath the lunar lander's 10,000 lb. thrust engine show the soil completely undisturbed. During ground tests there was grave concern for the vehicle falling into the hole the engine created as it descended. An oversight that they would have to keep consistent for all subsequent moon missions. They attributed it to the effect of no atmosphere.

7-Rare, uncirculated photographs, allegedly from the moon's surface, show scenes supposedly lit solely by sunlight. Yet they contain shadows that do not run parallel with each other, indicating supplemental artificial light. Sunlight would cast shadows that would never intersect.

6-Neil Armstrong, the first man to supposedly walk on the moon, recently granted an interview to 60 Minutes. Ed Bradley said, "You sometimes seems uncomfortable with your celebrity, that you’d rather not have all of this attention." Armstong replied, "No, I just don’t deserve it." Collins refuses to be interviewed. Aldrin, who granted an interview, threatened to sue us if we showed it to anyone.

5:-The moon is 240,000 miles away. The space shuttle has never gone more than 400 miles from the Earth. Except for Apollo astronauts, no humans even claim to have gone beyond low-earth orbit. When the space shuttle astronauts did get to an altitude of 400 miles, the radiation of the Van Allen belts forced them to a lower altitude. The Van Allen radiation belts exist because the Earth's magnetic field traps the solar wind.

4:-The top portion of the lunar module which landed on the moon supposedly popped up off the moon with two astronauts aboard, entered lunar orbit 60 miles up, and docked with the command module in lunar orbit. To look at its design and think such could have actually occurred is absolutely ludicrous.

3:-The surface of the moon is a vacuum. The landing module would have been heated to 250 degrees on the light side where they landed. There is no way they could have rejected the heat for as long as 72 hours as they claim on some Apollo missions.

2:-In 1967 three astronauts were burned alive on the launch pad. The upshot of the congressional inquiry was that the entire Apollo program was in shambles and it was a miracle no one was killed sooner. All of the problems were supposedly fixed by 1969, just two years later. With a third of a century of improved technology, why does it take longer between calamities to repair the Space Shuttle that only achieves Earth orbit?

1:-All Apollo missions stayed in low-earth orbit for the duration of the trip. Behind-the-scenes footage from NASA that shows the crew of Apollo 11 clearly staging a shot of being half-way to the moon was discovered. This clip, shown in Apollo 11 Monkey Business and explained in "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Moon", proves they did not leave low earth orbit.
