You don't have to give the ring back if you break up even if its a family heirloom. You have given it as a gift and it does not have to be given back by the receiver! Sorry you are not talking about this kind of engagement are you?? I have no idea what the terms of engagement mean in your case!

Terms of Engagement are usually the terms on which you give a client your service - you advise them who will be doing their work and who to contact in the event of a complaint. You also have to give an estimate of your account for any work carried out. Hope this helsp.

terms of engagement are guide lines they have given you to do a particular service and the way they expect you to carry out their duties if you break them the company can sack you and get someone else .
read what the say and if you agree then sign and send back if you dont agree then contact them.

This is a posh name for a contract. Treat it as such.

Are any of the terms contrary to the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977. (Assuming you are in the UK)?
Are all the requirements in place for a contract to be binding?

Offer
Acceptance
Intention to create legal relations
Consideration
Certainty of subject matter.

Hope this helps.
