Alot of people have like 'a dream to become a hollywood actor' or 'a passion for art' or 'I'm gonna become a lawyer when I grow up'

I don't. I'm a teenager and I don't know what I want to be when I grow up. How do I know?

I am 30 years old and still do not know what i want to be when I grow up!(lol) The good thing is that you want to find that passion, you desire to grow and learn. So many teens could care less. Pat yourself on the back kid! I would first start with that. Let the fact you want to have a passion be your passion. As you get older you will realize that the things you think are important now really are not as important as you think. Also do not...I REPEAT..do not let other people tell you what you should do when you grow up like "you should be this or that". Decide to want to be a good person and teach others how to do the same, and you will discover it...good luck.

how do you know? let me tell you that for a start, you need to discover what you're interests and hobbies are. choose one and if you can stick with it. once you get into the habit and continue doing it, then you'll eventually take it up and embrace it. when i was 10 and did art at school, i started doing it but it wasn't until a teacher pointed it out to me how creative and talented i was that i persisted with it so much so that i have continued drawing ever since. drawing and art in general is a great skill to learn and practice, if its something that interests you then i'd say go for it! but of course, you'd have other ideas and avenues to explore. why don't you try as many different things as possible, writing, drawing, play an instrument, take up acting. besides, you'd be more adept as well as multi-talented as well! ask yourself, where do you see yourself in say 10 or 15 years from now.

and yes you're absolutely right to point out that kids these days dream of being in a hollywood movie, of having a no#1 record in the charts to be as successful as their icon,- and yet they don't achieve that dream. though nothing is impossible- if you believe in yourself, your ability, if you know what you want to do in life, then make that happen. don't talk the talk, walk the walk- as in take action and do it! remember, that to know what you want to be, you have to be realistic but at the same time you have to care so much about what you do. show passion, show enthusiasm and give it your best shot.

i wish you the very best of luck and i hope you take the neccessary steps to make that dream of yours come true.

Expose yourself to jobs, activities, books, cultures, that you do not know about. If something catches your attention, investigate it further.

Truly, you will have many passions in life, not just one. When you are young, you generally are limited to the experiences offered by your immediate family, and your school peers. This may not be a very wide range of possibilities.

Your local library is a storehouse of possiblities, both books, and videos of other places, wise teachers, and how to information. Or you may ask your parents or other adults about their jobs. What they like or dislike about them.

My life is wonderfully satisfiying, and nothing like I would have envisioned when I was a teenager. I simply did not know the options.

It took me until i was 34 to find my passion and im now 36......i tried loads of things but they never seemed rite...i think 2 much pressure is put on kids today to pick and choose options and make decisions whey to early in life; when they have no clue what life is about anyway.......i would never have achieved being a second year degree student at a younger age.....i wasnt mature enough; although im speaking about my own experience and there are lots of young people who have a focus in life; and i admire them......find out who you are first, what makes your tick and then im sure your passion will follow xx

There's alot of grown-ups with the same questions. Life is not a race. You'll find your passion and inspiration. It doesn't matter if you're 15, 25, 35,45 etc....Right now just be a kid. Life is too short for you to be so deep. Enjoy.

Get a piece of paper and draw a line down teh middle on one side write a list of what makes you happy and on the other things that make you sad. Now delete anythng on either side that contradicts itself

Look at what is left, guess most of those left will be family things, so you are blessed. Now you know you are loved speak to the ones who love you and ask them for their guidance

You might make mistakes but who cares everyone will and does. An Astronaut needs to be a pilot before he leaves for space, and he starts to learn on the ground, so go for the moon but remember do it a bit at a time

There are some fantastic answers here.

In America, we are placing too much pressure on youth to know what they want to do in life and to go for it. I do not believe that this is natural or healthy. Enjoy your youth because it only comes once. Act responsibly but do not worry about 10 years from now because you'll miss being in the present. You have plenty of time, so relax and enjoy it for now.

Many people haven`t a clue what they want either. My advice to you is go to university ,if possible do a science course, that will open so many doors to you. Then you will be a little older and will be able to see what is on offer. Or after you leave school, why not do voluntary work overseas?

time will sure help you, but once you find something that fills your passion, stop and think if you are capable of being that. Consider going to college, trade school, or an internship. A lot of corporations will sponsor your internship while you go to school.

Enjoy your youth and don't worry about it. It will come to you eventually. I didn't know what I wanted to do until I was about 20 years old and then went after it and became very successful. Going to the library and reading self help books may help guide you to your path. It helped me.
