Maybe what we think about the world is reflected in music. A lot of music is angry, violent, and sometimes profane. Songs about whatever drug is current are around a lot.
Peoples music can say a lot about what that person is like.
Music is a reflection of peoples taste.
Popular music, most amount sold shows what people, mostly younger people like. I say younger people because I think older folks don't run out to buy the latest by so and so.
I think some of the other answers made some good points on how music changes their world view.
I won't deny that, I also thinks music is influenced by what people think.

Listening to music calms me lots of times and in that way changes the way I think about the world.

Somtimes music pumps me up and gets me going, that changes the way I think about the world also.'

Music changes the way I think about myself. And it does give me a chance to see how other cultures approach music

For me music from my era (late 60's & all of the 70's) really makes me feel calm and even can lift my mood. Life today is so stressful, so I zone out with the oldies for a while. Makes me think about the hot summers wearing my cut off denim shorts and smock tops that were in style then and hair flying wild in the summer breeze. And nobody to guard over us while we played since crime wasn't like it is now.

No, I don't think so. Not on that large a scale.
Music has the power to change how we're feeling at the time.
Some songs may inspire us to think more globally (Imagine) but don't alter the way we think about it.

it does -
but maybe not for too long :) its kinda like those advertisements to help these poor kids in ukraine(for example), and you feel REALLY bad, but then after a day or so, you forget about it, and not sad anymore :P

yep...kinda like that - if you listen to sad music, you'll be sad -
