people on here r saying that a girl has no responsiblitry if she is rapped if she walks scantely clad into a pub with drunken horny men. OK BUT if u would not want your 16 yr old daughter to do that wat r u afraid of, if not the chance of her being rapped. Is that not admiting some men have no control and might rape .Now if u wont let your 16 yr old daughter go to a pub scantely clad with drunken horny men because some gyys will rape because they have no control Why then if a girl does the same thing she is not responsible for being rapped in a situatipon you wont even let your daughter do out of fear of her being rapped

I have raised 3 daughters. I would not want any of them to enter a pub at the age of 16 even if outfitted in an anorak and wellington boots. Reading the entire question begs another response. You make sound like all pubs are frequented by horny men with no control. There are many jerks in the world but not all men are jerks and most men don't enter a pub looking for scantily dressed women of any age. Just like all scantily dressed women are not look looking for sex.

What does it matter what people are saying. You are talking to "them", now you are talking to us...when did you talk to your daughter? Parenting is not based on a public opinion poll. Talking is talking, not ranting or running your words into mush. Are you wasted, drunk, or just really pumped up on the emotion of your authority. Here you are talking about your child going into a dangerous situation, a threat of being raped, a lifetime of damage, and where are you? Are you sitting next to her at the bar drinking a coke and keeping her safe? No, you are on line looking for a pity party for yourself.
If this is your version of problem solving and in depth discussion of important life issues, I can see why a child of yours would go hang out in a bar. With all those drunken patrons it probably sounds and feels a lot like home, only more friendly and with a better sound system.

A person is responsible or not. That is black and white. The world is fantastically more complex then that. It is not black and white. Open your eyes to a vast world of ideas. A woman has the responsibility to maintain her own safety. This is a dangerous world and each person should be able to watch out for them selves. But no person has the right to take a women who does not want it. A man is 100% wrong raping a girl. So it is a complex middle. The woman is not responsible for being raped, but it is her responsibility to try to stay as safe as reasonably possible.

I fail to see the philosophical implications of this question. It could be an ethical dilemma, which is interesting, but I'm afraid your poor grasp of the English language has totally taken out the challenge to answer this question. Do you want advice? State your question clearly and place it in the right category. Do you want to investigate the ethical implications of either sending a 16 year old girl to a pub filled with drunken men or not? Also state that clearly, please.

Ok, Here in the USA, you can't get into a club legally until you are 21. Some can at 18 but can't get alcohol.
Just because a person dresses a certain way does NOT mean they are asking to be raped. Just cause you're crossing the street doesn't mean you're asking to be hit and killed by a car. Just because you choose to drink and get drunk doesn't mean you want to drink so much you die from alcohol poisoning. So why because a girl or woman dress' in skimpy clothes does that mean she wants to be raped? She is wearing what she wants and yes she is wearing it to get attention, but that doesn't mean she wants unwanted sexual advances.
Some men can't control themselves. That goes for murder, and theft too. Domestic violence is a good example. Just because a woman forgot to do something her husband wanted, doesn't mean she wanted him to hit her. She just forgot. NO one wants to be hurt in a way they didn't ask for.

First of all it's raped not rapped. Secondly, I don't want my 16 year old going out dressed like a tart because I don't think she needs to. She would get plenty of male attention regardless of what she wore. My girls also would not be in a bar. I'm not afraid of them being raped. I just think it's stupid to put yourself in a situation that you may not be mature enough to get yourself out of.

a woman putting herself in an environment like that or dressing like a slut is irresponsible.....but it is still not her fault. it is not her fault that a savage criminal with no control hurts her. you are the reason why so many women feel guilty, even though SHE was the victim. if you accidentlaly left your keys in your car...then someone stole it...would you blame the jerk who stole the car, or put all the blame on yourself? because the keys were in the ignition is not an excuse for anyone to come along and take it. same goes for a woman in a bar, wearing sexy clothes. that is not an excuse for a man to have his way with her. idiot.

I wouldn't raise her to desire this situation. If you raise kids right they shouldn't find themselves in a bad position. So prevent it before it happens. And no, we men are stupid, so I know not to trust all of them because I am one. You might want to use spell check every once in a while, didn't your parents teach you how to spell or right from wrong? Now I understand why you ask such a question!
