The giant moon gnomes wrap it up in black crepe paper and take it to Arcturus. But don't worry; they bring it back in time for dinner.

Please try to follow me carefully while I explain to you where the moon goes on the total black night. When the moon is total black, its location with respect to the Earth and the Sun is in between both, the sun shines on the side that is exposed to the sun. The other side which is exposed to the earth, is darkened because the rays of the sun does not fall on the face of the moon when the moon makes a conjunction with the sun, or when it lies between the Earth and the sun. Now as the moon revolves around the earth, and it is estimated that it moves about 11 degrees a day, then the moon begins to make a small angle between the Sun and the Earth. As it moves farther away around the Earth after having made a straight line from the Earth and the Sun, a slight appearance of the sun's reflection of the surface of the moon which was totally darkened from the Earth when it was in conjunction with the Sun, start to show as a very thin crescent. That crescent gets bigger and bigger while the moon revolves around the earth and making a bigger angle between the Earth and the sun. When the Moon makes an angle of 90 degrees, the moon appears as half of a sphere. When the Moon makes 180 degrees, or another straight line with Earth and the sun, but this time the earth is between the Moon and the Sun, then the Moon appears as a full Moon. When it makes 270 degrees, then the other half of the sphere appears shown to the Earth. When the moon completes the cycle and makes one whole revolution around the earth, and passes between the earth and the Sun once again making a straight line with a zero angle, then the moon is totally darkened again. That is where the moon goes when it is total black night. I hope you now have a clear vision of the situation of the movements of our moon around the Earth resulting in how the moon appears to us every day.

Friend ,
The moon is a satellite of the earth.Only stars shine and can produce their own light. The Sun is a star.It appears huge because it is closer to earth than the other stars that we see at night.when the sun's rays of light fall on the moon we see it .But on New Moon Day the earth comes in between the sun and the moon and completely blocks the rays of light from falling on the moon. That is why we cannot see the moon on this day.

The Moon is not gone but the Earth is between the Sun and Moon. Hence it is not seen.

Moon takes same time for making one rotation on its own, ie 28 days for spining itself, and the same time it takes for going around the earth, so when dark area of the moon and dark area of earth alligns, the moon hides it self from our view. Do you know, when it is full moon, it is new earth on moon and new moon here is full earth on moon.

dude the moon doesn't go anywhere!!!!!
its still there up in the sky. the only difference is that the earth shadows the whole moon and so the sunlight cannot reach the moon. because of which the moon cannot reflect back the light and we cannot see the moon.
got it????

You only see the moon if sunlight is reflecting off of it. If the Earth is between the sun and the moon, you will not see it.
It doesn't go anywhere, you just can't see it.
