There has never been an acceptable proof or verification of the existence of God. And like anything that we cannot prove exists, there is no proof that God doesn't exist. So God has about the same status as unicorns and fairies.

The belief in God is not a proof that God exists but rather is nothing more than a declaration of membership in a group that make similar declarations. Other than that all beliefs are meaningless nonsense.

The existence of the universe, the beauty of a sunset or flower, the complexity of the DNA molecule, the invention of numbers, only prove that we humans have observed, found, appreciate, wonder, and seek. That says a lot about us but nothing about God.

If we cannot even prove or verify that God exists, there is absolutely nothing else we can say about God that cannot be traced back to the furtive imagination of some person seeking simple answers in a world they don't understand.

The problem with "Faith trumps knowledge" is that you set yourself up for having no way of separating what is true from what is false. If faith trumps knowledge then nonsense trumps sense. That is the philosophy of a sophist or nihilist and not one of any spiritual value. Belief does not create or determine truth.

A good and important question.

To ask a question "Is there a God.", I first think you have to define what God is.

If someone walked up to you and said "Are marklark's real?", I think your next question would be. " Well, what is a marklark?"

Some believe God to be the creator of the universe. Otherse beleive he was/is a man. Some Hindu religions even think cows are sacred animals. I think the "What is God?" question I think you have to answer yourself.

My personal belief is that some type of sentinent being created the universe. This is for the main fact, that if nothing were ever created, then there would not be a universe.

If you see a painting, you would automatically assume someone painted it. It doesn't mean the painter was good or bad, and it doesn't reveal their intentions. However, once you can admit that there more than likely was a creator, the next step is to attempt to find out that being's nature.

I find it funny that often when people are asking "What is the universe?" they often seem dumbfounded by the notion when in fact we are IN the universe. You don't have to look any farther about the nature of the universe than looking in your own mirror.

Does that require a God? That's for you to decide.

Wether you believe in a god or not is entirely your opinion. With all the different religions out there there is definatley something to believe and what about the unexplained healings or people who survive accidents that look as if they should have perished. You can call it what you like but a Higher power is definatly a better word than god it is a matter of faith and what you believe in but with myself i believe in the Higher Power there is something that watches over each and everyone of us believe it or not... Have faith that you are also being watched over.

No one has ever seen God. It is a matter of faith. Faith trumps knowledge and the senses. In short, it cannot be know. One must believe first then one finds the reasons to support a God. Many scholars thru the ages have said this, Augustine and Thomas Aquinas.

There is more than one "god". "God" means too many things to too many people; therefore, means nothing.

But there is one angry, vindictive, jealous god. It happens to be the God of the Old Testament:

{"You shall have no other gods before me....You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me...} Exodus, Chapter 20: 3,5 (NIV)

Authoritarian gods who offer nothing but intimidation and fear are not worthy of our respect, much less our belief!

Not in the sense of the word understood by the vast majority !
Once the experience happens, the struggle would be to put it into words.. since, every suggestion seems to be appropriate , making things more confusing, and difficult for the 'blind believers' to comprehend, and atheists to enjoy !

Yes there is a God. Pray to Him sincerely and you will see He does exist. No harm in trying.

If not, then, who is controlling this system, who created it, who made the very first beginning?? There most definitely is a creator, God.

If you are able to read my answer, there's definitely a God who's working through me to reach out to you to show you His divine existence.
