I have a friend that is native american, but she uses ebonics sometimes....always listens to rap (especially lil kim), likes only black guys, watches BET, has a FUBU shirt, and I think she even likes black people more as friends. Why is she like this? Why does she try to be something she is not? And why doesn't she just like everyone, instead of try to gravitate towards only one race? Well, I take that back....she does frequently visit this yahoo chat room for natives.

I don't know. It really is irritating, isn't it? My son and his friends are constantly "yo, yo" and they're white, they really sound like morons. Maybe she is unhappy with herself and is trying to be something she's not.

The question should be, why is she ashamed of her own race (whatever it is). Todays youth are into this whole "black" thing. I do believe we need to teach in school to be proud of whichever race we are, instead of centering on one. There should be allowed "your race" clubs in school promoting your heratage. But not in a racist way. In my school days, you wasn't black acting or white, you was a metal head or prep or jock. LOL

Try asking about her people, and point out the good things about them.

She just got some other people to accept her and now she wants to stick with them.

It happens all the time.
