Republican Mom: I am unsure of our Govt.s policy towards Iraq war (they oppose it, I presume), but many of us feel that your President has erred in attacking Iraq, in the garb of punishing Saddam. I think he should not have interfered in other nations affairs, fully knowing that Iraq had no harmful chemical weapons.

Wikipedia definition of Republican: "The Republican Party is the more socially conservative and economically libertarian of the two major parties, and has closer ties to both Wall Street (large corporations) and Main Street (locally owned businesses) than do the Democrats. Republicans have a strong belief in personal responsibility, limited government, and corporate entrepreneurship. In his 1981 inaugural address, Republican President Ronald Reagan summed up his belief in limited government when he said, "In the present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.""

Wikipedia definition of Democrat: "One who advocates or practices social equality is commonly referred to as a democrat. In politics, left-wing, the political left or simply the left are terms that refer to the segment of the political spectrum typically associated with any of several strains of, to varying extents, socialism, green politics, anarchism, communism, social democracy, progressivism, American liberalism or social liberalism, and defined in contradistinction to its polar opposite, the right."

As for your question on who advocates world peace - World peace is a future ideal of freedom, peace and happiness among and within all nations. It is utopia - an unrealistic ideal. As long as man has walked this planet - they have been fighting about something. Those that believe in the virtues and successes of democracy, see India as an ally. I do not know India's opinion on the war in Iraq. In general terms, most Democrats oppose the war in Iraq and most Republicans support the war in Iraq. There are dissenting views in both parties.

There will most definately NOT be an improvement in the United States if the Democrats take power in the House and/or Senate. By their own bills and proposed legislation - Democrats are soft on criminals (advocating no jail time for crack cocaine dealers); Democrats want everyone to pay higher taxes so more money can be spent on social welfare and entitlement programs; Democrats believe that if we pull out of Iraq and negotiate with terrorists, that they won't want to destroy Americans anymore. America is stronger, more economically prosperous, safer, etc. with Republican leadership and policies.

Honestly who can tell the difference anymore? When the two parties were originally set up the republicans were more like the democrats are now. I think everybodies agenda is world peace, but I don't think any one actually has any sort of a plan to bring that about. I don't think there can be any improvement regardless of who is in power. There are way to many corrupt people in power. The only real way to change things would be a complete over haul of people in power. Bring in a new crop of unconnected people. Good luck with that though.

Republicans have not allowed a terrorist attack to occur since 9-11. While the Democrats have a history of being weak on foreign policy, such as during the Clinton years, where many Embassy bombings and the USS Cole happened. This also dates back to the Iranian Hostage Crisis in the 1980s.

Republicans want a SAFER, STRONGER, America.

There are only slight differences to help maintain the division and illusion of the republic. It's like asking the difference between the red sox and yankees.

Republican Mom. If you go that far left you do get comunism, but you fail to mention what happens when you go to far right? Just ask Germany. There extremes on both sides.

One of my favorite Radio Talk show hosts summed it up best by saying:

The Democrats want to destroy America by expanding the power of government with extra spending and higher taxes at the cost of individual freedoms just a little bit faster than the Republicans do.
