You really should use a diagram from and electricl book or website. A 3 way switch is installed differently depending on where the power source is introduced. Sometimes it is before the first switch, sometimes it is near the fixture.
But in any case, you'll need to use 14-3 wire and 2 3-way switches with the "common screw" inverted on the second switch.

Turn the Power to that circuit off First, take the old 3 way out try to remember which wire is on the dark colored screw, if you have already done so and forgot, Most 3 way circuits can be figured out fairly easy, 2 wires from one cable = Travelers, single wire from a different cable = common, common being the darker screw on the switch

There is usually a wiring diagram inside or on the box of your new three way switch. It seems kinda confusing, but once you dig into it its not that bad. Make sure you turn off the circuit breaker or pull the fuse for the circuit that you are working on. dont want to get shocked or anything.

Home Depot sells a book called "Home Improvement" or, something to that effect, that explains three way switches, as well as many other home maintenance/repair methods. It has been invaluable to me over the past several years. It only costs about $20 or so.
