The reason for daylight savings time was originally to give more daylight hours to the agrarian part of our society. Now, popular thought is that it is energy-saving, which I think is very doubtful.

Summer time or Daylight Savings Time was originally developed by Benjamin Franklin long before the era of electric light. The idea was to provide more daylight in the evening hours of summer, when people could get work done in their homes or on their farms.

To increase the hours of daylight at the end of the day, with daylight savings time it gets dark later. Personally I think it is so that golfers can get in a full round after work.

Depends on where you live, as to when it started. The reason behind it was due to the First World War. Governments found a way to encourage people to conserve fuels and energy needed for the war effort.

To take advantage of more sunlight, but changing the start time to be able to take advantage of it.

The sun up at 4 am is a bit rough, so move the clocks so it is 5 am

daylight savings time... give you an extra hour of sleep in the winter and extra day time light in the summer

I think it helps balance out the fact it gets darker earlier in winter and lighter in spring.
