Because from what i know, only AMD Athlon have the latest 64-bit technology.

It is a 64bit processor which uses socket 754 which in outdated board format.

Intel now produce extremely good dual core 64 bit processors however I usually use AMD as I feel you get more for your money but if you can afford intel go for it.

Its a Socket 754 processor that does 64-bit; it used to be the low-end 32-bit renamed Athlon XPs from socket 478 days.

If you have a Socket 939 or AM2 motherboard, lookup the 3800+ X2 chip: its been floating around $150 and has had great reviews.
