For me it's the chance to do something different out of the year. A night to do things that normally aren't socially acceptable. Dressing up as a clown and scaring people for one. I'm wondering what others enjoy about my favorite holiday.

I always loved Halloween! When I was little I loved getting the candy and dressing up. When I was in my teens I loved scaring the little ones, but not too badly! And now I am 26 and I love pumpkin carving, decorating, seeing the cute kids trick-or-treating and seeing how excited they get when candy is dropped in their bags! I am looking forward to this year, especially, because I have a 1 year old who will be dressing up as a princess and I will be able to spend Halloween with her!

I think I love it because I get some sort of perverse glee from everyone else going "Oh no, It's Halloween." I also like to dress up and do something different for a party! It's not every party you can run around pretending to drink peoples blood, or hide under a sheet!

I love the costumes and dressing up.
I also love watching the kids have a fun time.
It's still very low key here in Australia but some people dress up and go "trick or treating", I'm always prepared just in case they knock on my door with lollies and candy.

Halloween has always been my favorite holiday as it gives people a chance to let their guard down and be whatever they want to be. also, met my boyfriend at a Halloween party. We laugh about it still because we ran into each other a few days later and didn't even recognize each other (we had to much makeup on!).

I love costumes; I'm also a big fan of being scared and of candy. Then there's haunted houses, carving pumpkins, happy little kids wanting to show off costumes, societally accepted vandalism (in moderation, of course--a little TPing never hurt anyone).

It's my favorite holiday, as well. I love it because, like you said, you get to kind of break the rules. I LOVE deocrating my house to be completely over-the-top, and the tackier, the better. It's the one day of the year when our society "allows" us to be socially UN-acceptable (within reason). I think we (human beings) need that.
