To answer this question you have to assume that the Ivory is absolutely Legal - which a lot of it is since it could have been available before the ban that was put into effect in l989 or from one of the several exempted countries to the ban, or even from India where the Elephant is not killed for its ivory.

And you have to assume that it is affordable.

Curious - doing a study on this. Thanks!

Been there... I had a beautiful simple ring as a kid that I loved... it was carved with a heart on it... it was SO cute. But Ivory and rings don't mix. It broke and I was SO upset. I think the pieces are STILL in my childhood jewelry box(but a lot of good it does me there). If you get such a ring, I do not recommend that you wear it. For display only. I have a 'lot' of ivory (passed down) but they are all ornamental curio stuff. If you have or are going to get such a piece, I recommend that it will retain it's value in one piece. Rings probably were made because it was before the laws and before the rapid decline of the animals that produce the ivory when it was considered cheap as dirt. Therefore, ivory was 'throw-away'. Treasure the ring... don't wear it.
I'd get the ring.... like the other unique treasures that I have.
Oh, and I HAD a beautiful wide letter opener that belonged to my grandmother, but my daughter didn't like it and made it vanish and denies taking it. I mourn it's loss.

No, I believe ivory is morally wrong. And it's kind of creepy, like wearing bones.

Depends on the age of the ring. Very old, O.k. New as in less than 100 years, not me. Some things you have to take a stand on.

i definitely will buy it for my wife . but here they are really expensive (starts from 25$ for the smallest ) elephants are not normally killed for ivory but considered a nuciance and danger to farmers.

Yes, if it was high quality. I don't particularly like where ivory comes from, but I love the way it looks!
