I am installing a 1/2 bath, the toilet will be about 8 ft. from the main bathroom, the sewer line comes out of the ground undre the house and has a 2" y that goes up for the sink and then thru the roof for a vent this 2" line also has a y in it that the bath tub drains into. My question is will I need to run another 2" line thru the roof to vent the new toilet and sink?

Yes and no. The proper way would be to install another 2" vent, however if you can run vent pipes UP from the new fixtures and over to tie into the existing vent yu will be OK. But the must go UP first then over.

No, just connect or, "revent" the new to the existing in your attic space. Must be at least 2" all the way out.
