If you can't "pwn" someone who has the same skill level as you or higher, what's the point of bragging about it?

I think it's more of a ploy to point out the fact that the n00b is indeed a n00b.

I've always thought it was cocky and rude, and becomes more so if you brag about it when you beat someone of your skill level. Once you get to a certain point, gaming etiquette becomes a lot like good sportsmanship--even when you win, you congratulate your opponent on a game well-played, etc.

The only exception is when the n00b is a cocky *insert explative here*, and then the "pwner" (if you will) has every right to put him in his place.

they don't brag about it, per say. mostly what they mean to do is to establish the fact that they CAN pwn the levels that that they got out of, the levels that they were once themselves. of course, there is some bragging too, to show that the person can pwn at least someone...which also comes along with higher levels.

Because they like to brag. I hate it when they brag about something that they were before. Most of the time, they think they have accomplished something because now they can "pwn noobs". Personally, I think that anyone who brags and uses those idiotic gaming terms have accomplished nothing.

because ti is a way for somone with even a minor inferiority complex to be able to feel like they are in charge of something and better than someone else. Think the "Nerd" version of the playground bully
