Second hand shops, charity shops, house clearance shops or 'Aladdin's Cave' style antique shops. Easily spotted by the pavement full of odd chairs or bedside tables! It doesn't suit everyone, but you really can pick up some lovely pieces in those places. Also car boot sales. You have to rummage around sometimes, but it's well worth it if you find what you are looking for.
